Advice needed.
I'm not usually one to do this sort of thing on the web, but I need advice. I'm also aware of the fact that I've probably lost many of the few readers I have, since I update oh so rarely. Oh well, for those of you who do still read, please feel free to offer your opinion(s).
While one problem was avoided by finding out yesterday that I've been accepted to UPEI's B.Ed. program (YAY!), I now have to start thinking about the next one. If I'm lucky enough to be accepted at Ottawa U as well, I have to decide which school I want to go to.
Until yesterday, I thought that Ottawa U. would be my number one choice. But I was so overjoyed with the news, that now I feel as though I need to seriously consider going to UPEI. It's really not the two programmes that I have to choose between, because I know both of them are equally as good. It's more so the difference in length (Ottawa's one year vs. UPEI's two years) and the locations that I will have to decide between.
On the one hand, it would be great to finish my studies, have them over and done with, in one year. On the other, I know it will be much more fast-paced (thus a little more stressful). And while I know it isn't true, I feel like this choice is going to decide where I end up living (the rest of) my life. I've always thought that no matter what I did before hand, I'd end up back on PEI. And that thought still pleases me. But should I spend another year or more away before finally moving back home? Wouldn't it be easier to find a job on PEI if I went to school and did my work-terms there?
Lastly, I'm worried that me missing home right now (because it's been six months since I've been home) is influencing my decision. Right now, nothing sounds better than spending time at home. But I'm not sure I'll always feel that way.
Help!
PS: I miss all of you back home. I really do.

So glad you heard from UPEI! Congrats! When it comes to education I have to say that I think it's true that doing your work terms in the schools you want to work in will help, however it won't guarantee work. If you want to work at home right away, I'd be inclined to stay home for school too; however if you think you'd like to teach somewhere else for a few years first, maybe you'd like to go away for school. Sorry...that probably didn't help at all.
Good luck with your decisions ;)
hey,im back.
I know i didn't provide any help in my first comment..but, I really did have to do that paper, I had like 4 pages left..and, I sit here procrastinating as I have another one do in Peneology and Corrections by 6 tonight, hehe, but that's not too bad!
Anyhow, as for help, I actually pretty much agree with Lex. I think that's the simplest and easiest way of looking at things.I think I kind of got that message across to you the day we were talking and you told me about the STU complex..Just incase I did not though, I am firming up my stance today :)
The only thing she didn't say that I had to say was that, *if* you chose to work away for the first little while, experience and expanding your horizons is never a bad thing to have on your resume and list of accomplishments ;)
So, I would keep that in mind as well too.
And, who knows, working in bigger schools and especially in urban areas where chances of the students being harder to manage (ie- potential for gangs, more drugs etc) and showing you can "handle yourself" there, might impress us back on lil' ol' PEI'..
....Just a thought :)

PEI, you living expenses will be cheaper, the course shorter, this is where you want to work and Ang & I will be here... but that shouldn't influance you. But I was thinking Ottawa U before only because I was there ;)

Ang is right to some extent... the computers I use are kinda slow. But I'm starting to wonder if for some reason Corey, you're not on my picture mailing list? I send pics through kodakgallery, so they're not posted on the link from this page. but i don't send pics all that often.
